Dr Willeford was a physicist before becoming a physician. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo California and worked as an aerospace physicist with satellite communications before going to medical school at George Washington University where he was class vice president. He then completed an Anesthesia Residency at University of California at Davis. He was the first anesthesiologist in Brunswick County beginning in 1992. He served as Director of Anesthesia for over 10 years and was also elected to medical staff leadership and served as Chief of Staff and was on the Board of Directors of Brunswick Community Hospital.
In 2004 he left to do a Pain Medicine Fellowship at Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania and returned to be the first fellowship trained interventional spine physician in Brunswick County beginning in 2005.
Dr Willeford has continued an academic career while in private practice. He has written books, completed clinical trials, published scientific articles, and invented medical devices.

Dr. Kenneth Willeford has spent nearly his entire career caring for patients living with chronic pain along the North Carolina and South Carolina coast. After earning his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1988, he built his practice around a simple premise: pain deserves precise diagnosis, not just a prescription.
That approach became Coastal Carolinas Interventional Spine, which has served the Supply, NC community since 1992 and expanded to a second office in North Myrtle Beach, SC to meet growing demand along the Grand Strand.
